I don't understand British people sometimes. They love to moan and grumble about how terrible it is here,but they never actually seem to do anything. When it has come up, people I have spoken to about it who are actually a bit political , moan about the BBC being 'a bunch of robbing c*nts' is the line often used , but then say 'well we don't want to end up like america with fox news', frankly whatever you think of fox news they don't send goons round to your home and demand you pay for their politically biased shyt and if you don't they fine you hundreds of pounds and you might even go to prison. Yes people have been locked up for not paying fines over tv licenses . I mean most of the decent TV shows watched by people here these days game of thrones, breaking bad, walking dead , are all made by US companies contracted for US networks. I know many use British actors, but still it is what it is. The BBC isn't what it used to be in terms of quality TV shows top gear was the last one and they fukked it up . And even then when you read about how they enabled that pervert jimmy saville ,you think people now would think the BBC should be closed down.
Plus there are ways to circumvent the detectors as well. 
I think they still make good TV as well; Luther, Some of those BBC4 documentaries, Attenborough documentaries, The Apprentice, Charlie Brookers programmes, People just do nothing
those goat BBC documentaries dont pay for themselves
