i've always thought that an AC game in feudal japan would be dope, especially given the team's attention to historical details and shyt

but ninjas as we know them today are largely fictional, so i imagine it would be difficult for them to find a way to be historically accurate with it...they could maybe show ninjas in a different light than the traditional shuriken throwing black suited nikkas doing 200 flips across trees and rooftops, but when we think of ninjas that's what we want so :manny:

perhaps a better idea would be to have samurai as the central characters, like a group of ronin that are secretly assassins and having supporting characters in the story that give glimpses to the foundations of ninjitsu and ninjas, like how it all started before the modern tropes we have now

i've had this idea about assassins creed since i beat the first one way back in the day, and still think it could end up being the greatest game in the series if done right :manny: but i doubt it will ever happen and the last couple games are showing that they are taking the franchise into a different and much less interesting direction

The developers know people want a Ninja game but they want to push things in new directions and think ninjas are obvious and boring, hence the American Revolution setting.

The new 2.5D game is in China

They do reference Africa if I remember correctly.

i just beat Black Flag, first AC game i've ever played and i agree that the melee combat leaves much to be desired.

I liked Black Flag and Freedom Cry (I give Ubisoft mad points for giving Haiti some shine) but yeah the melee system is dry as hell. If it takes several iterations for them to get a legit melee system I'd prefer they test it in other not so interesting locations before they make a game set in China or Japan.

yeah, there is zero variety in the combat and absolutely no room for creativity by the player.
i've said it before and i'll say it again; the Arkham series did melee combat right and to me it's the gold standard so when i play a game like Black Flag the melee aspect is just :beli:

idk, I feel like part of the appeal of the lore of AC is that they're a group of assissins that aren't ninjas
