Even if Walmart is only doing it out of their own self interest, also using it as an opportunity to promote their Great Value brand, it's about time someone with power said something.

NEW YORK, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Walmart Inc (WMT.N) is warning major packaged goods makers that it can no longer stomach their price hikes, pitching its own private-label products to shoppers as less-expensive alternatives to suppliers' name-brand goods.

But now with the cost of cardboard cases declining by 40-50%, the cost of transportation falling by 25-30% and the cost of raw materials declining significantly, "retailers like Walmart will say 'hey you already had three rounds of price hikes last year, why are you giving us another?'" said Burt Flickinger, managing director at retail consulting firm Strategic Resource Group

Consumers finally starting to talk with their money and buy less from ole Sammy don't think Walmart is doing this out the kindness of their heart
I’m going to have to agree. There’s no way people are buying them 7-8 dollar eggs as much as they were when they were a dollar or less. There’s a lot of “managers special” deals going on there lately cause they have to get rid of shyt before it goes bad. It has to be hurting Walmart and other stores
