A man was arrested after he taunted police on Facebook.
Police in Christchurch posted a "wanted" photo of Samuel Evan Lake on the department's Facebook page, writing that there was a warrant for his arrest.
A Facebook user, Sam Lake - believed to be the same person - then commented "I need to get a new mugshot."
Police responded by saying, "Come and see us and will arrange at no cost."
Lake wasn't finished, countering with, "If only they were as good at finding me as they were with comebacks". By this stage, many people on Facebook were following the developing exchange with both party’s taunts receiving thousands of likes.
And then, “Cheers for the new DP [display picture] boys,” after he had altered the police’s original photo so that it looked like Ben Stiller’s Zoolander character.
Hopefully Lake enjoyed his moment in the spotlight because what he had done effectively was made his own mugshot go viral, and of course, this meant he couldn’t hide for long. Police updated the post the next day to say that they had arrested Lake.

The post was later taken down by police, who also announced that Lake had been arrested.
