I think if it was focused on (policed) heavy, it could become more profitable. I think the government is content with locking away minor violaters. Funny thing is, if they focused more on pedos, they'd be able to get away with more (in terms of surveillance, key loggers etc) and our privacy as a nation would be more open to them as a result. But they're ok with just taking drug dealers and giving them life sentences

I sort of already alluded to the reason why in my original post. It is much more easier and cheaper to pick people up off the street for petty crimes than it is to infiltrate a child porn ring and pin anonymous people behind multiple proxies. It isn't hard to stumble onto multiple sites where that kind of content is hosted, going after the actual hosts is damn near impossible unless someone snitches, they get hacked, or they make a mistake. Most of the original content creators are behind bars, the new ones slip and get caught every now and then but a lot of work goes into catching them. I could go in depth if you want, that's such a long post though. lol

No you've made your point. The only thing that makes it easier is the notion that you actually have to catch pedo's doing crimes like actual police.
