Busta was a character his damn self…

People loved to work with him.

Yesterday when I read Ghostface’s book and was shocked he got into it with Busta’s crew.

I didn’t think that nikkas would be getting at Bus.

He’s too silly to beat up.

Beating him up like trying to beat on Heavy D or ODB
Busta is a known a$$hole lol

Nice question.

I am not from NYC but I would say so as an outsider who was nothing but hiphop orientated in the glory days until now. I picked up every The Source and bought mad LPs and mixtapes and ciphers and what not. Busta was def the man if not TOP 5 at any time definitely TOP 10. Back in Leaders of the New School he was seen as the nicest and in features back then going last verse meant you were the dopest. Which Busta had a lot of last verses.

With that said he was never seen as an elite MC until 'Put your hands where my eyes can see' Right before that record Puff told him to cut out all that shouting and rah rah aggressive chanting and drop it smooth. He has followed that blueprint since and one of my favorite Busta records 'New York sh1t' you can tell he is an elite spitter. A top tier MC.

I would say yes at one time he was a TOP 5 NYC MC.

Which Time?

Californ-i-a by way of BK
Maybe from 1996-1997

I would say then was his best argument.

It was Biggie, Nas, Jay, and I'd go P and then Busta probably in that last slot. There's other debatables you could put here as well.
