Yeah, when I was really young before I knew who the author of Dragon Ball was, I always thought Dragon Quest was some spin off DBZ because it had Dragon in the title and the characters had the Dragon Ball artstyle.

Days of Future Past (post to username correlation notwithstanding) and the Terminator always felt more influential to the Android Saga more than anything. Chrono Trigger is still a GOAT game though.

The Terminator is the most likely inspiration, since I don't know how many manga authors were really into American comicbooks like that.
