Was “Death Proof” as bad as most said that it was?

I’m not a movie head like that and I don’t know the ins and outs of movies like that nor am I a Tarantino stan but to me this movie always got a bad wrap when in reality it felt like Tarantino doing what he typically does but more in depth to the grid house films he grew up admiring and watching

Very first time I saw it I hated it but I watched it a few years after and loved it

Also has top 3 car chase scene ever

To me it was tarantino doing what he does best, making a grindhouse film at its core

it was suppose to be like al those old grindhouse films of the 70’s

But when I saw some people over the years complain I thought, “do they not know what grindhouse as movies are”? lol

Grindhouse was a dope ass theater experience to bad the movie bombed. Machete, Thanksgiving, and Hobo with a Shotgun were all birth from it lol. But to my knowledge people hated Death Proof. Because it was considered boring coming after Planet Terror, the pacing, people found the dialogue to be cringey, how the women was portrayed, and that Zoe Bell controversy.

Love Death Proof, but I saw the double feature in theaters when it first opened, and it was the right way to experience both movies.

Not a perfect movie, but Rusell is hilarious, and the writing is sharp.
