The sleeping pills could’ve entered the picture because he couldn’t handle his coke comedowns (traumatic background, weak disposition who knows)

the lyricsl mindset on display and some of the stuff seems like it comes from someone who snorts for days and regularly alternates between coke days and acid trips

but then the sleeping pills took hold and killed that part of the brain that the cocaine was stimulating

you can only do for coke for so long (per session, and in life / it has a built in self-regulating mechanism)

He probably experimented with coke, but he was on his way to developing a drinking problem. He said that if he didn't have pills to fall back on, he would have ended up an alcoholic.

When they were filming 8 Mile, they were working round the clock. Shooting days were 16 hours at a time, then he had to drive back home which took two hours, and drive back to the set which was another two hours. He was exhausted and couldn't sleep, so he got a prescription for Ambien and when he took it, he was knocked out. Eventually, he moved on to Vicodin and Valium, and he would just take pills from whoever could supply them to him. By the time Encore came out, he was already a full blown pill addict and he was taking somewhere from 60 to 80 a day.

He went to rehab in 2005, but he didn't take it seriously and he was more or less doing it because people felt like he had to, not because he wanted to. Also, when he did go, people kept asking for autographs and wouldn't leave him alone. The pills created holes in his stomach, which meant he had to keep eating and eating. This is how he ended up weighing about 230 pounds. The Game mentioned that when he was working with Eminem, he would come to the studio with more Taco Bell than God allowed. Late at night, Eminem would take a half pound of hamburger, strain it, then dump cans of nacho cheese on it to make a sandwich.

Even after the overdose in 2007, he wasn't ready to get sober. He came home, got injured, and when he was given more pills, he ended up taking the same amount he was taking before. That's when he realized he had a problem and got clean.

Is OP cocaine fueled?
cannabis: 16 -23, 27- 31 regularly and then more of a here in there once or twice a month thing
Alcohol: 19-25, not daily but often enough and when I drink I’d drink. This was the most destructive drug I’ve experienced. Only one I vehemently oppose ever doing again.
cocaine: 24-30, 36 to 48 and sometimes 72 hour binges about twice a month - basically until the nose says I can have no more and then I would
sleep usually making up for about all of the missed sleeping time.Never addicted. Always appreciated return to baseline. I’d wake up after a 12 hour rest, eat a high calorie meal (IHOP) and then go back to sleep. I stopped being a vegan at this time because I needed more calories per meal - couldn’t waste meals in food with no caloric density.
