People referenced this interview. I know it's an older conversation but I was thinking about it.

This was during Civil Rights. Now a 93 year old man will say some problematic ish during his lifetime, but to call James Earl Jones anti-Black throughout his whole life? I don't believe it. Thoughts?

I figured it was from that interview. I have no idea what exact year it was but it looks like it's from the 70s.

I dunno man, it's not a good look given that Jim Crow was still in people's consciousness. I think we are all lucky social media was not a thing back then because he sounds like he has a lot of controversial opinions He would be dying to get off his chest on a daily basis.

Idk how people get anti black from listening to the interview unless they were already seeing red and just wanted to react emotionally to anything he said.

He wants a submissive woman and feels that based on historical treatment towards black women it’s changed black women’s attitudes towards black men (he did mention he was generalizing) and society in general leading them to be more masculine. Same talking points of today. He even gave a lot of context showing why he understands black women are the way they are now.

In short he wanna pawg in peace, doesn’t mean he’s against blackness or black women.

I didn't think it was anti-Black but I am also not a Black woman. He did say, as you mentioned, that he understood why those women are the way they are.

I think many of us grew up seeing a lot of strong Black women because they had to be strong. We understand the struggles too and external factors. I think James Earl Jones was just giving his assessment personally.

If he prefers to date or marry a non blk woman that’s not anti blk.

If he talks about how evil and no good blk folks are, that’s anti blk

Both cases you presented are great examples of anti-Blackness :comeon:

A wholesale rejection of Black women in favour of other races is outright anti-Blackness..just because lust is involved doesn't negate it.
That's like him saying he won't hire Black people and prefers Whites and other races.
