KRS’ rep seems to be that he’s a preachy, didactic hip hop purist to a fault to the point where he’s not looked at as a rapper who takes a lot of artistic risks but he’s a better artist than a lot of people give him credit for. Even something seemingly simple like “Overseer, overseer, overseer, overseer, officer, officer, officer, officer,” shows a level of creativity that few rappers possess.

can't really disagree with anything you said...like i said im a krs fan but a lot of his greatness come from his charisma his message what he represent for hip hop and us black people rather than his sheer technical musucianship where he can't compare to a guy like prince be.......he's a great artist on par with prince be but musically speaking he can't hang with someone who wrote produced and arranged all of his songs.....and even though it's not what we qualify as pure hip hop and his message isn't especially geared toward black people anyone who argues his greatness as an artist are kidding themselve on some dumb shyt

set adrift on memory bliss is a horrible song.....so I guess so.

Plus it wasnt unprovoked, they dissed krs in rap pages

I fukk with PM Dawn but this is true. I feel like people think KRS just attacked them because he thought they were corny. But they dissed him and he stepped to them accordingly lol

But KRs was the leader of the "stop the violence" movement in Hip Hop. This is why he had to adress the "contradictory" talk in Sneak Attack. KRS had the west coast on some "all in the same gang" shyt...Its no coincidence that right after the leader of the Stop The Violence movement threw ol boy from PM Dawn off stage Gangster Rap took over Hip Hop. The so called leader coulda done a sit down and preserved the purity of hip hop on some adult shyt, instead KRS acted like a hoodlum.
