From the "hardcore" image they were creating (bandana's, tank tops) to the artist

Ja = DMX
Vita = Eve
Cadillac Tah/Black Child = The LOX or maybe more Infrared and Cross
Murderers album = RR Compilations

I know Ja was known for those duets and crossover female songs but his albums were still attempting to talk about hard shyt.

A lotta Murda Inc / Ja Rule revisionism going on lately

first off; murda inc was never a street record label nor did nikkaz fukk with it

second; ja rule was a big name from 00-02 no doubt but he was a big name as in drake or tygas lane… he was never a rapper the streets fukked with

third; the label was ja, ashanti n irv

basically it was more OVO than Ruff Ryders

yeah it did have a drug kingpin behind it n certainly local goons like black child n cadillac tah were the road muscle for ja n ashanti

but the perception of the label was never that it was thoro or hard pause

cmon brehs ja was the face n he seem like a cool cat but he always been a clown

I dig it but the rnb Ja came much later after the first album. I remember getting the Def Jam sampler with Ja, Onyx and Def Squad if I remember correctly. Ja whole image was street and there was a street buzz

Ja went the route that he stumbled into after trying compared to Pac and X and the True murder Inc never happening

Yes and no. Yes in the fact that the Inc wasn't as good as RR but no because that was the crew template for a lot of shyt at the time. The main star/leader, the female and then the other dudes in the crew. Big/Kim/Cease/The other cats with Junior Mafia, Nas/Foxy/AZ/Mega/Nature with The Firm, Jay with Amil/Beans/Bleek/State Prop with the Roc, etc.

No doubt

but ja went rnb on his second album I dont blame him tho he found a formula with holla holla

n thats how he became a big name but he was never hot on the street level like g unit dipset or the lox

What’s the obsession with labeling people as “biters”?

The J. Cole/Blu thread now this…

Because back in the day, biting was forbidden

it was like the biggest insult to bite someone style

For over the past 23 years, people haven't really cared, but in the late 80's to mid 90's, that shyt was like the biggest damn insult
