Was Rey from Star Wars created to get Hillary elected?

Just watching this film wondering if this was supposed to acclimate people to the idea of a woman leader? Besides the untapped moviegoer demographic of course.

Is this character now completely obsolete because Trump won?

Basically no. Rey was just a way for the studios to tweek and do the original trilogy over with younger adults and have Luke skywalker be a girl instead of a man. If you notice, hollywood got no new fresh ideas and all their doing for the most part is making revamps of old movies with few tweeks here and there with a fresh modern finish to it.
