For Harry Potter readers, what are yall thoughts on Snape? He actually has a huge fanbase

Personally I dislike him as a character, but you have to recognize he's one of the best written characters of the series with Dumbledore.

He put in work but still was a bytch ass dude. But like someone said in the comments, I don't like how Harry named his kid after him. That's like naming your kid after an abusive ex-nazi dude because he protected you for his obsession for your mother

Harry did that because after looking into Snapes mind and seeing what really went down he saw that his father James Potter was the one who would bully a young Snape unprovoked and probably because he was jealous that Snape was close to Lily. After that Harry was looking at his dad like and Snape like. Through Snape he learned that not everything is black and white.

When harry found out the truth about snape after everything that happened it was like... this nikka was in on the plan the entire time... he was in on killing dumbledore the entire thing was to sacrifice himself for the greater good.... that's why at the epilogue harry is telling his son that snape was the bravest man he ever met...

I mean back when he was in school Snape still wanted to join Voldemort as a youth... Killing muggles, mudblood (which Lily was) and all that. So even if James was a horrible bully I don't think that's what made Harry tipped in favor of Snape.

Also I think the bullying flashback was in book 5 when Rogue was teaching him occlumancy, and Harry still shytted on Snape after seeing that and trying to find excuses for his pops. I remember Lupin hitting him with the when asked about it on some "I wasn't involved and I regret it but Snape did the same thing to us and worse. It was just what we would do back then"

All fax but I think Harry empathized with Snape because Harry could have easily been Snape. He could've easily been placed in slytherin. He was known for using "dark magic", parselmouth. He had a connection to Voldermort. He even went through times where his classmates were distrustful of his intentions. Him and Snape had a few things in common.

yeah cause he was on harry's ass from jump because of the bad blood between his father and friends. harry didn't know his father, didn't know snape's history with james or Lily so he's confused on why he's getting dumped on so hard from a faculty member that's supposed to be nurturing and teaching him.

snape was an overall good dude, but I think he was bitter from having to play the long two face game and indulged in some of his less desirable traits

There are a few reads of his character and none of them good.

1) He got friend zoned so hard he became a nazi.

2) his relationship with Lily wasn’t what he thought it was. We only see their friendship through his memories. And Harry was straight trash at occulemency. James was this dude’s sworn enemy. His tormentor and bully. What does it say about his relationship with Liliy, that she fukked, married, and had the seed of Snape’s mortal event within 3-4 years of when their friendship was at its strongest.

Snape killed or helped kill a ton of people and only stopped when Voldemort was gonna kill his favorite mud blood. And even then he only cared about her, not her family and new found happiness, just her.

and if we discount him shytting on Harry, he still relentlessly shat on Neville Longbottom, who was barely in Harry’s camp.

I will never understand the people who cape for Snape. He’s basically a KKK member that once fell in love with a bi-racial girl.
