Was the 90s and early 2000s the best times for street hustling and bootlegging?

In the 2000s there were so many dudes where I'm from balling in the dope game. Small towns had so much money floating around, made them feel like big cities. Didn't seem to be that many Police nor Snitches as there are now. No cellphones or cameras.

In the early 2000s I did 3 years in the Navy in Virginia. I selling beats for 50$ to 200$ a piece. I could make a beat in 20 mins. Beats were decent I guess.

I sold boot cds for 10$-15$ a pop.
I use to burn for the bootleg cd man for 5$ a cd.
I use sell blanks cds to the cd man for 1$ a cd

This was like 2000, 2001. The hood didn't have computers and burners like that then.

I was way ahead of the throwback jersey wave. I've been a member of Ebay and Paypal since 2000, I should've invested. I would be rich if I was hungrier and greedier.

I would buy Jordans, Iceberg, Coogi, Evisu, Durango boots and throwback jerseys and sell them to people for profit. I should've opened a store. I never touched my check.

Once 2005/06, the game got saturated and I fell back and focused on my IT career. Still like to see what's hot. I need to find a new hustle. I miss it.

Anyone else was getting they hustle on in the 90s and 2000s.

In the late 90's I was selling Softcover Porn on VHS recorded off the telly when we got Cinemax.

When File sharing programs like Napster and Kazza hit the scene, I put together Music, movies and as many jammed together porn clips that I could find in the early 2000s on floppy discs and zip discs and sold those.

Even though alot of dudes had Internet they ain't had computers of their own like I did. Just a family computer in the living room or am older brother or uncle's and you could barely use that shyt much let alone jerk off in peace, so when Disc drives came with the Cd/Dvd burner combo, I copped that quick, started buying blank dvds and Cds and fukking ate.

When Torrents came about :banderas:
A breh got crafty and started making porn dvds with made up names, printed cheap covers I made in paint and started selling those to the point I had to leave my computer on all day to download new material 'cause everybody was rushing me for porn and movies.

The Arabs started selling bootleg movies for cheap but I had a breh who worked in a theatre in America so they used to do that screener shyt where they watch the movie first and make sure the real is intact before they show it to the public. So he and his Co workers used to setup cameras and record the best quality vids with no interference and he'd upload it to an FTP for me so I had quality movies within days of it launching.

But with technology, it gets cheap, commonplace and affordable so everyone started getting laptops and their own personal computers and had no need for dvds so I only sold to old guys who weren't tech savy.

Everyone was stealing music up to that point so mix cds were obsolete. So I just let the shyt die and only did it when asked as opposed to spending weekends just downloading terabytes of Porn and going through 50 discs a spool packs within a day burning shyt I knew would fly off the shelves come Monday.

Good times. :smugdraper:

Yep...a young nikka was in high school selling albums before their official release date and mix CDs for $5 a pop. Movies too. :ahh:

All that shyt has got to be dead now though...albums don't leak weeks/months in advance anymore, and streaming services killed the need for a physical copies.

Why buy a single CD for $5 when you can pay for Spotify or whatever and get millions of songs/albums on your mobile device?

:russ:We got a box in our basement of rips of various songs on one CD. Think of it as "NOW" for hiphop.

Got random photoshopped pictures of ballers and half-naked ladies.

I remember hitting the barber shops and having one guy selling the goofy shyt
enhanced-buzz-16757-1364432342-3.jpg
Tshirts with the looney tunes or the boosted Karl Kani gear.

Throwbacks, white tees, white socks...all from one guy with a duffel bag. Pornos and championship games:ehh:

The music shyt died(from what I saw) shortly after napster, and definitely a while after Ipods came around. Anytime I see dudes running goods, I just give em cash
and KIM. Anyone who can be out on a hot ass day walking up to random folks to sell shyt is cool with me. Even if they ripping other folks shyt off to do it:mjlol:

just a couple years ago i had lost my job when the economy crashed, so i took the last couple hundred dollars i had, bought like 50 mophie case/chargers from china, i posted on amazon at a cheap price and sold out in 2 days, i trippled my money in 2 days! :ohhh:

it was on and crackin!:demonic: i kept ordering more product and making money at an insane speed, did it for about 3 months before Mophie got involved.

actually their lawyer ordered one from me, but luckily i checked his name and address and realized i would get sued and or arrested if i sent it, so i just decided to call it a day and walk away.

from then on i sold the rest on craigslist, piece by piece, made decent money also. :ehh:
