The Meek vs Drake disses had more anticipation. Drake using a ghostwriter, Meek trying to hire a ghostwriter, Meek being Twitterfingers, Meek blackballing Philly artists, and eventually Pusha T's expose of Drake's secret child which, consequently, ruined an Adidas deal of Drake's were all very exciting and meaningful developments.

The Kendrick vs Drake disses came out too fast. People couldn't digest them properly until the battle was already over. Regardless of how wide their reach will be, it could have been bigger if they did radio debuts. That's a lot of people on the road in their cars and trucks that aren't tuning into DJ Akademiks. The claims in their disses about each other's secrets, since they haven't been verified yet, aren't meaningful.

Feels like its still too soon and fresh to say......but honestly I might be leaning towards yes. It was two of the biggest stars the genre has ever produced, and it had everybody including outside of hiphop going crazy.

That Friday night Family Matters/Meet the Grahams double drop was the most memorable hip-hop event in the past decade or so (at least).

Drake dropping Family Matters and seeing that shyt get IMMEDIATELY stepped on was wild in real time. 7+ minute song, big budget video, smashing the GKMC van, “ya dead”…that whole victory lap got packed up in 30 minutes. Never seen anything like it.
