I'm not trying to pull the racist card just yet. I'm more so looking for clarity since I haven't been paying much attention to baseball since my Red Sox started sucking ass.
Bryce Harper comes off as extremely arrogant, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone on ESPN say he needs to tone down his attitude and humble himself. Correct me if I'm wrong.
But Puig just sets foot into the league, is generating a LOT of hype while putting up RIDICULOUS numbers, and all of a sudden just because he didn't want to talk to someone representing the rival team that pelted him with a fast ball during an at bat, he's painted as arrogant.
He says he's not a bad person, but just isn't into the media. Why is that a bad thing? Do all athletes have to smile and pretend to like these annoying mosquitoes with laptops and microphones?
I'm probably far off base, but I just look at the comparisons between how the media handles/handled Harper and how they handle Puig and I see a discrepancy that I find to be a little unsettling. They're turning on this dude quick, and I don't think him going against an "all american" white boy with more league experience in Freddie Freeman is helping either.
I also find it unsettling that Stephen A. Smith was talking about not liking it when blacks are stereotypically judged, so he wasn't going to do it to a Cuban in Yasiel Puig. As if Yasiel Puig ain't about 2 shades darker than Stephen A. and clearly a black man, but I greatly digress.
