red raised a great point too about the luke supreme court case opening the floodgates for even more artists/record labels to put out grittier content that reflected the streets

I gravitated moreso towards the artsy/intellectual shyt like Outkast, Common, The Roots, Fugees, etc. as a teen.

shyt i thought the smart, college type kids was listening to.

You gravitate to what you don’t have easy access to as a teen.
Same.

I listen to everything, but Tribe, De La, Kast, and back to Kane and Rakim grabbed me more. I somehow didn’t take Gangsta rap seriously as a kid. Love it, but shyt was jokes to me.

Nah...just like movies, or books bout positivity and shyt, there's no drama, no excitement and no sales...no sales means labels won't be motivated to support the artists. There's not a bunch of positive rock music either, so spare me the conspiracy to keep black positivity down.
