No one really talks about it, but this seems like a song that was recorded for "Life after Death", was this the only joint that was left off the album not cuz it didn't fit, but because of Sample clearing issues?? Sounds like a Prince joint and Prince is NOTORIOUS for not clearing sh**

This and the one that's been titled "The Ugliest", which was a J-Dilla beat and was supposed to feature Busta. I'm not sure if it was finished or not, but that's the one with the shots at Pac. Outside of that I don't think there were many others that didn't make the cut.

I woulda fked with this song over "Another" for the album.

Yeah... and I don't know about the Marci feature, that's one of them after the fact situations. Roc wasn't even part of Flipmode in '96, so that verse coulda been tacked on years later.

The first time I heard this verse on this beat was in the summer of '96 on a mixtape. It was this and the unfinished 'Somebody's Gotta Die' that was just one verse over a loop (no strings, special effects, etc.)

the ugliest was a Busta Song that he chose not to put on his album cuz Big was dissing Pac. It was never a Biggie song. Dilla said Puff wanted to buy the beat though..

they weren't "Covers" though, sampling is just taking a piece of the original beat and flippin it into something else. He wasn't trying to cover prince

yeah same here, i was a freshman when i copped it. Always knew this was one of those final songs biggie did. They never really talk about this joint as far as what album it was suppose to be or what not, just threw it on there and never said a word lol

Sounds like a Prince sample (Kiss) but I'd imagine it was interpolated since Prince never cleared anything. Similar to how To Live And Die In LA has a Prince interpolation since they couldn't clear it for Makaveli.

Yeah I'm cool with this not making the final cut, got tired of the instrumental real fast. That J Dilla track is fire, though. Too bad Busta didn't put that one out.
