the "showcase technical mastery" bit was reserved for the first tier

Brandy is an EXCELLENT vocalist, though. As a dugazon she has a very small voice, but she supports it well and when belting her mask placement does grant her the flight of resonance. Her bread and butter is probably her vocal musicianship. She has a real affinity for pitch; her chord progressions and harmonic structures have revolutionized the way these younger generation place their notes. she built on the formula that was laid down by Whitney and her minor scales are influential.. in singing circles everyone knows what a "brandy run" sounds like.. her vocal arrangements in Afrodisiac and Full Moon can be heard in the stylings of singers today including Chris Brown, Jojo, Jazmine Sullivan and even beyonce

I can only name only 3 voices that surpasses brandy's agility along with her having tonal quality (due to her having a hybrid voice type) that's unique and distinctive on its own. She deserves her dues..

And she doesn't belong in this conversation:camby:

Neither does any of the other names mentioned besides Whitney, but here we are. Most of the GP have ears that doesn't even recognize real nuances that showcases vocal profiency and the demographic here suffers from amusia so I wouldn't expect them to know or understand. It's like expecting children used to watching teletubbies being able to analyze and quote Shakespeare. Brandy's a vocal beast..:usure: doesn't matter if you agree or not.. Vocal Pedagogy is a science and isn't subjected to your preference:manny:

I'll throw another name out there, as well. Christina Aguilera has a legendary voice as well. Again, not Whitney level but she got pipes.

..Christina's straining and technical flaws are the reason why her voice has deteriorated as quickly as it did and is the reason why she struggles supporting tenor C5s today.
