People kill me with this esoteric bullshyt. You've paid for an album or concert, then of course you're a customer. Being a customer and a fan is no more mutually exclusive in music than it is in sports or any entertainment avenue

i've never been a jay-z fanatic/defender but it's ironic that this is coming from the washington post - the epitome of the "defend the uber class at all costs" mentality that has run amok the last decade or so.

I saw this a few days ago. Dude SLAUGHTERED this album. I can't even remember an album that's been universally panned like this. Lupe's "Lasers," maybe?

I think you're thinking about the Wall Street Journal. The Post is a liberal leaning paper that really only gives space to conservative voices to balance out it's content to a degree and protect it's position as one of the most respected papers in the world. It's a great paper IMO.

Their art/music critics are essentially Pitchfork reviewers though.
