WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina has called out The Washington Post – not over the Republican tax plan that was approved last week or a possible infrastructure bill that could be the GOP's top legislative priority next year.

The Republican lawmaker has thrown down the gauntlet over Bojangles' biscuits.

Tillis took to Twitter recently to take umbrage over a recent review by the Post over the best biscuits served by fast-food restaurants.

According to the newspaper, it conducted a blind taste test of six local fast food chains, and the taste testers concluded that McDonald’s served the best baked biscuit.

At the other end of the baked goods spectrum was Bojangles’, which came in next to last, while Burger King's biscuits were deemed the least favorite. Of Bojangles’, the paper said, "Very salty, not very flaky. Meh. Not a good biscuit!"

That got a rise out of Tillis, who rose up in defense of Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits, which was started in 1977 in Charlotte, where its headquarters remains.

"With all due respect to the @washingtonpost, their food tasters need to get their tastebuds checked out," Tillis tweeted.

No word on what fast food item the paper will review next.
