AUSTIN, Tex. – Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin delivered another somewhat rambling speech during a Ted Cruz fundraising luncheon on Friday, repeatedly warning the $2,000 per plate guests that “a vote for Vermont Senator “Bernice Anders” would continue the socialist agenda of the White House begun by Barack Obama.”

The 66-year-old* former vice presidential candidate, who repeatedly referred to Sanders using the pronoun “she”, also suggested that presumptive Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton personally urged Sanders to enter the race in a “bold yet obvious move to split the vote to ensure a Hillary White House victory.”
“At first we all thought it was that trademarked Sarah Palin humor that made her so instantly popular,” remarked luncheon attendee Lillian Montgomery Haskell of Austin. “We laughed for the first few moments which got her going,” explained Haskell, “but she never mentioned Senator Cruz once, which was odd, and she called the [Vermont] senator ‘Bernice Anders’ several times.”
Cruz maintained an uncomfortable smile during Palin’s far-ranging speech, which seemed to go “off-script”, reportedly cutting his own remarks short before a scheduled “meet-and-greet” among Palin, luncheon guests, the Senator’s wife, and 2 daughters.
“We already have one socialist in the White House,” said Palin, “and Senator Bernice is just a Vermont version of a Chicago Obama in wolf’s clothing – sheep’s clothing, I meant to say. You know that story!” Palin directed her last remark to Cruz’s 2 daughters, who giggled but were otherwise well-behaved, if not somewhat fidgety, during Palin’s nearly 40-minute introductory remarks. Palin concluded her speech by stating “a ‘Billary‘ presidency would be just like another Obama third term.”
Many pundits have suggested Sanders’ entrance into the race will nudge Hillary Clinton more “to the left“, taking into consideration the extremely liberal views and opinions maintained by Sanders, who does in fact, identify himself as a Democratic socialist.
“Of course the former Governor realizes Senator Sanders is a man,” said a Palin media spokesperson. “Her remarks were made in jest, if only to see how far the lamestream media would once again reach, in order to capitalize on its anti-Palin bias. All of the former Governor’s speeches are well-planned, researched and finely tuned, down to the last detail.” The notion that Palin had gone off script was attributed to the former governor’s “spontaneous speaking style.”
Palin’s spokesperson would neither confirm nor deny reports that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has contacted her to be his vice-presidential running mate, were he to enter the 2016 Republican presidential contest.
Meanwhile, Cruz’s fundraising efforts during the month of April proved extremely healthy, with over $1 million raised the first day of the Texas senator’s official campaign announcement. Cruz’s first week’s total contributions topped $4 million. Friday’s luncheon fundraiser reportedly raised an additional $1 million.
