But that's not what I'm talking about, it isn't about whether or not the average joe schmoe finds the gfx fine, it's about the notion that nobody "cares" about resolution or FPS. Of course people care about it. Would you pay IMAX prices for a standard theater viewing of a movie?? And no of course people won't "not" buy a game because it's not 1080p/60fps. I'm buying MK8 in a couple of days and it's 720p/60fps. Would I like it to be 1080P?? Of course but what else can I do?? Skip it?? I have realistic expectations, i know the Wii U isn't a powerhouse so I'm not irrational like "skipping this". I think the dudes saying they wasn't buying a game because it's not 1080p/60fps is joking, nobody is that serious.
It did happen. It just wasn't as prevalent because HD was still new for many console gamers but now as PC gaming has become more popular and buzzwords have become mainstream it's a hot topic. It's not the deciding factor for everyone but to say that nobody cares about fps or resolution is nonsense. If I bought a game for my PC and the game was locked at 720p or capped at 30fps, i'd be pissed and want a refund. For consoles you really have no choice but to play the game but if someone is saying they'd say no to better gfx and performance for their games, I believe they're lying. I feel like the folks who like to ridicule dudes like me who say this are just trying to justify their expensive console purchases when another one is cheaper doing more.![]()
No one cares from the standpoint that it isn't going to shift the gaming companies focus to meet these "standards" nor will enough gamers ever not play/buy games because of this.

its quite sad
in this one instance, i am admittedly being a hater.
