Felt like a blend of.....

Overarching plot and boss fight straight out of...

Action Pacing, fights, and set pieces out of...

If the sequel has some kinda proxy for a Metal Gear Rex in it...

:ehh:
Good movie I liked it, It's in the same class as some of his prior movies like...
  • I robot
  • I am legend
  • Enemy of the state
The tone of Gemini Man is closer to something like "Enemy of the state" and "I am legend" than "I Robot" though since it's not really any comedy here. While I Robot was kinda "sci-fi serious" it still had comedic moments here and there.

I get what you mean, but couldn’t you have said the same with less pics and paragraphs and better formatting?

So its worth a watch:jbhmm:

I'd say so, or let me put it this way. I've already seen the movie and still plan to actually watch it in theaters next week.

Pro
Interesting world -
Has expansion potential if they do a sequel.
Steady action with very short breaks in between - 70-80% action -20-30% exposition
Balanced story - No convoluted explanations all over the place but it's not dumbed down either.(think mission impossible story/action ratio)

CON
The scene transitions feel abrupt -
It feels like they wanted to keep the pace up so much that they cut some dialogue / transitional scenes out.
The character arc of the kid felt too quick - about 40% of the dialog dealt with the kids character arc but it still wasn't enough to really connect with his actions in the end.
"Fire boss"(for lack of a better term) backstory - He came out of nowhere and screws with the established back story by not being clearly explained, hinted at, or referenced.

Conclusion:
Quality wise I put it up there with will smith movies like I robot, I am legend, and Enemy of the state. It's very Enemy of the state in it's tone.

Be warned there are popups galore ....and while the movie is complete, it is just a dude in an overseas theater recording the screen with a camera:hubie:
That said if you can get past the popups the movie will play.:francis::yeshrug:

Is the action good?

shyt it's nothing but action:pachaha: well that's a bit much:jbhmm: ...I'd say %70-80 action:yeshrug:
Nothing you've never seen before in other movies:whoa: But it's well shot, not to long not to short, and they keep the action coming.

EDIT:
The action scenes that really stick out in my mind is the...
  • First sequence in south america - Long running shootout from ground, to roof, to bikes
  • "Fire boss" fight - 3 way fight with dude running riot(It felt like the blade 2 ninja fight)

There was an under ground fight sequence but the action wasn't anything special, it was more appealing as a whole sequence than for the action alone.

Liked it better the second time around :ehh:
Just got back from watching it for the second time ...but I paid(movie theater) this time.

Oddly enough the story makes more sense now and the one unexplained plot point was explained ....I just missed it the first time around.
(I didn't understand were the "final [fire]boss" came from but it was explained in a "blink and you miss it" scene)

:jbhmm:
The movie as is stands good in my mind, my only real gripe now is that I would have liked more action scenes.
(Specifically in lengthening the opening sniper scene and ending shootout scene)

Will is my boy in my head but he's too old to be picking these trash films.

Focus was dope, but everything else has been trash recently.

He needs to turn the ego OFF, hook up with Coogler or some other young director, and take his hands off the wheel.

Get a movie with a similar aged sister like Nia or Halle and knockout a stunner.

This movie was worse than bad, it was boring, and silly.

Will, you're better than this

Unfortunately this is what I've heard from a few of my cinephile friends at work. One girl I work with (who thinks Tyler Perry movies are the epitome of film excellence) loved it which is exactly why I DON'T want to see it.
