His career started to pick up when he got older. He was almost 40 when 300 came out, so it makes sense he prioritized a check over being picky. For all he knew he was going to flake out quick. He cobbled together a pretty decent career doing movies Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe would have done back in the day and is probably set Financially. If anything give him credit for ataying in pretty good shape.
