I’m only twenty minutes in, but I’m already noticing the small hints and nods to potential foreshadowing and story telling that is visual and less verbal. Love the opening scene that establishes the tone and builds character for The Godfather immediately.

I already understand why the title has the hand pulling the strings, because that’s what The Godfather does! :ohhh:

My pops had the book, so I read it long before I ever had a chance to sit down and watch it... I'll watch 1 and 2 anytime they come on.... Tried to watch Godfather 3 and was like

Are all of them worth watching?

part 2 definitely...I’d watch 3 just for complete “closure” but it’s not necessary

part 3 isn’t as bad as ppl say it is...it’s just that the first 2 represent the upper echelon of classic cinema so by comparison the 3rd installment feels “horrible”

*edit*

just realized who this is...once again I’m the first one in your thread :mjlol:

Took me years to watch part 1. Still have not viewed part 2 or 3 yet.
I guess it’s one of those classic movies that you keep hearing about but don’t watch because you got desensitized by everyone mentioning it :manny:

I had a friend tell me that if Godfather 3 wasn't Godfather 3 and was it's own mob flick [same plot but different names, etc.], people would hold it in higher regard. Y'all think that's true?

I agree...I still don’t think ppl would see it as a classic but they’d view it as a good/solid movie

Yes and no. It probably wouldn’t be watched enough to even register as it’s not totally awful, but nothing stands out either. It’s title is it’s gift and curse:yeshrug:

yup

it has all the successful beats that make the more modern mob flicks successful (Michael wanting to get out, Vincent wanting to come up, the price paid for each)

but it's not on the level of the first two films

edit: it prolly would've been called generic if it had a lesser cast
