We ain’t talking about TK crapping the inaugural Owen Hart tournament?

I figured he looks at them as secondary titles and wants to put on who he thinks are top even if they dont have a belt.

Could have used it to elevate someone but I also figured they'd have nothing to do after awhile and these two are in their plans for awhile

It makes more sense for it to be their G1/King of the Ring. I honestly thought it was gonna be one big special event one/two day tournament and not over the course of weeks on Dynamite and Rampage

It’s perplexing it didn’t go that way from the start. The blueprints are already there. :dwillhuh:

Hopefully it’ll get credibility next year, but just a lackluster fumble for the first one. :shaq2:

I didn't see an issue with it. I saw more of an issue with Punk winning the championship from Hangman than I did with them winning the inaugural tournament. And I thought Punk-Hangman match told a good story. But Joe and Ruby winning their respective matches doesn't move the needle from a story perspective. Ruby will finally get the singles W over Britt Baker at some point. Joe is 43 and doesn't really need the win.

The only confusion I had in regards to the Baker-Soho match was the sportsmanship shown at the end by Britt. Maybe a babyface run is coming for her, idk, but it didn't align with their characters at all. Especially with Cole winning in that manner.

That whole presentation was weird as shyt. You have Owen’s wife coming out looking like she’s at the Kentucky Derby dressed ridiculous, then you have her ramble on while the heels who won the tournaments stand around respectfully looking somber, she’s positioned in between them like she’s about to officiate their wedding. Then instead of a trophy we get even more belts, which half the AEW roster has at this point.

Just a total flop of a tournament that elevated nobody whatsoever, but what do you expect from something that was all about pandering and easy PR in the first place.

From the start he never even announced the brackets then shida gets pulled then the jokers didn’t really deliver then they have Kyle o Reilly advance to semi for no reason fans wanted kris stat to win but they have ruby go over then the two winners so obvious and both heels , :why:

I've said it in multiple threads now. This has been TK's biggest miss since I've been watching AEW (9 months). Just a huge missed opportunity that ended up being just another bland tournament.

Two heels that for some fukking reason act like babyfaces most of the time gear up with tributes to Owen and win the whole thing...and then act like two happy kids in a coronation ceremony that was such a feel good moment that it was perfect for a face to get it. Truly bizarre stuff.
