People across the country need to look at SF / Bay Area as the canary in the cole mine. I know the situation is unique because it revolves around tech and building restrictions (specifically in SF), but it needs to be looked at as a learned lesson for cities across the country
it has to be the most dystopian place in the country. you got people paying $4000/month for a small apartment they may have never even seen before signing a lease, some paying the year in cash. private busses picking up select people at public stops, and uber eats drones flying sushi over the heads of starving people sleeping on the sidewalk. its truly disgusting

It's already happening in a ton of other places. Also, that's not how capitalism works. People prioritize the cash and worry about the outcomes later.
just an idea...
Can't the city step in and just fukk with the property values on a whim??? I mean they CAN do that right??? or just make apartments super cheap for people living there outside the city correct? And I'm talking Rent Stabilized, not one iota in rent change at all...
How all these people rich and can't make housing outside the city???

and if they do they gentrify shyt instead of being humble and keeping property values down...
