We always talk about Angle, HBK, Austin, Rock, and Hogan, but what about...

The Undertaker? :ld:

...and :whoa: I'm not even an Undertaker stan at ALL. I just notice that he's never really in the conversation when it comes to all-time greats. After checking out the streak DVD, it made me wonder why?

Where does he rank as far as the "G.O.A.T's" go? :notsure:

Would "Hell In A Cell" be as infamous as it is today if it weren't for the Undertaker? Who else has originated more custom matches in the WWE?

Who else could have run for this long as a zombie cowboy/biker? It's almost as if respect allows the crowd to accept him when he recreates himself so he can do no unforgivable wrong.

Even if there are people out there who absolutely HATE the Undertaker, is there anyone that doesn't respect him in the ring or in the locker room?

Is he not one of the most athletic and emotionally-compelling big men of all-time in the ring? The guy can brawl like Austin/Rock, get hardcore like Foley, display technical/submission ability, and still hit a high-flying spot at his size.

Has anyone else been able to pull as many classic matches out of concussed half-conscious/half-dead people? :ld:

 ...but you can't say that he doesn't know how to sell through facial expressions. It's almost as if he got better with age.

GOAT gimmick and one of the most respected by his peers.

Great athlete for his size and has classics with everyone you mentioned in that title.

Plus his taped fist are legendary around here :sadhbk:

One of, if not my favourite of all time.

I would never argue that he's objectively the biggest draw or best worker, but he's very solid on both counts.

Had incredibly longevity considering the silliness of the gimmick. Involved in some classic feuds and matches. Could move for a big dude.

GOAT entrance. Has to be seen live to really appreciate it.

Watching all the shoot tapes that I have... he's one of the few that no one ever says anything bad about. Even the drugged out bitter guys who hate every one else still respect the taker.

Because he's overrated imo

I can't name 5 great NON gimmick matches of his off the top of my head that are classics.

Never gave anybody there best matches

Forgettable title runs

I will say though, he is underrated in regards to him not having an issue with giving younger guys rubs

Vs Hogan SS 91

Vs Hart Rumble 96

Vs Angle Fully Loaded 2000

Vs Lesnar Unforgiven 03

Vs HBK Unforgiven 97

Hard to call him overrated considering if you wrote that gimmick down on paper it looks like maybe 2 years tops. And 23 years later. He still matters with basic changes at best.

Dude could do most of the power moves, can actually wrestle when in there with a capable hand, on the mic he's money. I hate that he spent so much time fighting freak shows, he rarely got to show his skillset consistently because of it.

Taker is underrated/under appreciated if anything IMO. He's always been there which kind of makes him easy to overlook. He's a pillar/institution.

That's why I don't rate him or the streak that highly. To expand on my response, I think he's overrated in GOAT talk but I can't deny that he's a great big wrestler but doesn't belong in goat discussions.

Only difference between him and Kane is booking. I don't see anything he can do that Kane can't and I'm not a big Kane fan. At this point I hope they build a guy up to take the streak and he retires, only reason I look forward to his WM match.

Name a great Kane match, gimmick or no. He has maybe one, and it's against Taker.

Not to mention when he was biker taker, switched his steez up and was every bit as good, if not better.

You never need to qualify your view point on my behalf. I love opposing views especially one favorites of mine. I'm torn, I kinda want to see what someone would do with the " I beat him at mania" rub. But damn if I selfishly don't wanna see him retire intact with that as his legacy. I don't lose at the Superbowl. Ever.

Midcarders rarely get the time it takes to have a great match.

Kane switched his steez up more times and he's more durable.

I'm hoping they do the tag match at WM with Punk pinning H and breaking the streak. Then Taker fukking with Punk all year and him losing his mind, leaving the E for a while and Taker catching him slipping Rumble/EC time then decimating him at WM and retiring strong or last year really being the end of an era..I'd be fine with either

His two Wrestlemania matches with HBK prove he can work at a high level.

I know HBK is considered the GOAT worker, but even he isn't that good that he can have that kinda match by himself. Taker held up his end.

Kane's had ppv matches on Raw brand PPVs that we could look back on if they were any good but they weren't. If were talking overrated it's Kane, who could never really carry anything by himself except a movie. Fans don't really care about the guy unless he's working with someone credible.

Meanwhile the fans have made the streak matter and have turned Taker into a larger than life character in the E. Dudes been having 4 star matches at Mania for like 7 years straight, who else can say that? Kane's been having duds with Orton or beating Chavo in seconds but that's it.

Takers up their in the 2nd tier with the Bret Hart's, HBKs and those guys. Kane's not on that level.
