Ok she's speaking in terms of a historian. In that case, she's right....thats what the Asians in the south did at the time. I read a book back in the day about the Asian-black relationships in the early 20th century especially in the food industry.

The thread makes it seem like shes just talkin shyt
What was the book called?

Yea, honestly in Mississippi, atleast where I stayed, it was Black, White, and Asian. Not much of anything else.

I remember we used to skip school and hit up the gas station owned by this dude named Bao Wow. They owned quite a few of the gas stations, and were heavy in the fishing/seafood industry. I was down there last week, and it seems they own all the liquor stores. Gas stations and liquor stores in both black and white areas. A lot more of us are getting into the seafood industry, though. Quite a few folks I know that go out into the gulf. Also seen more restaurants opening up by us. We eating on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but not to the level of whites and Asians

Yea, they deep on the coast. Before I moved down there in high school, nikkas used to tell me how in middle school they’d have an annual black vs Asian fight at school. They got some numbers down there

As a child of that soil, what she says is true to an extent, but is she going to totally ignore that white folks forced Asians into Black neighborhoods and that those same Asians created a credit system that was no different than what white folks used to keep Black folks in debt. I explicitly remember walking into stores they owned and because they knew my grandparents were good for it, I could walk out with food when I was sent there to purchase stuff. Those families made MILLIONS in Black neighborhoods and they would send their kids to private schools like St. Joe and the like (IF they were allowed...this was in the 80s/90s, not Jim Crow or immediately following the CRA64). Their grandkids benefitted off of all of that and when it was their turn to takeover the family business, they quickly cashed out and either left those neighborhoods high and dry OR they sold a portion to a Middle Eastern or Black owner but they still got a cut. I'd love to go back and forth with her on this
Country accent on a Chinese woman is tripping me out.
Mostly 2nd/3rd gen and beyond were the ones that developed the accent. shyt would be mad funny to see one family member who didn't speak a lick of English, next gen speak broken English, and 3rd gen sound as country as me. shyt was wild

Never saw a Asian in da sip in my life :ohhh:. I thought they was all about education. Why would they move to the least educated state in the country?
they're more so in the Delta area (Greenville, Clarksdale, Indianola, Greenwood, etc...). Mf's was even out chea co-opting recipes lol

Irish immigrants did the same thing in the 19th Century.

Mexicans were considered "White" and given Civil Rights 100 years before Black people.

"White people" aren't a race, but a class.
hell, Asians were considered "white" until the 1970s on the Census just like Arabs are now. Gotta keep them numbers up

Bro I’ve seen plenty of Asians especially in the delta where I’m from (cleveland, Greenville area) lol. They owned the liquor stores and corner stores where I’m from. A lot of them moved to the delta for the farm land cause it was similar to the land they were from to grow ANYTHING.
This man knows! Where you stay at in Greenville? My folks stayed by Lucky's off Alexander or the one Asian joint over by Orlando/Nelson if you know any of them spots

All this shyt is common knowledge to real nikkas
Thank you. I'm not American but know these things. I was encouraged by my history teacher to look these things up.

But it is always good to enlighten people with things they don't know. So when a cac tries to debate you, you can bring the receipts.

Based on these clips, I actually sought out to watch this documentary in full. It's very good actually and I recommend folks watch it.

Found it for rent here for five bucks.
Watch Mississippi Triangle - Available from Third World Newsreel Online | Vimeo On Demand

What was interesting is a lot of the Chinese folks were fully aware of the shyt cards black folks were given and there is several of them who said that they found no value in throwing in with black because they were poor and treated badly. They wanted to join in with the dominant group when the chance arose.

But there is also a sizeable amount who dealt with the racism Chinese people face by saying fukk white society, we will just build our own and not bother integrating with white society or black society. I have to respect that to some extent...

But there are also several Chinese people in the film who threw in with black folks and intermarried with them.

Overall it's a good film that give you a raw look at a small part of Southern America.

I was looking for it too and was gonna rent it just to watch.

Hope you ripped the video from the site to hold onto and upload later.
