The dog is a professional and she has purchased a seat for it, so I see nothing work with it. Service dogs are a different breed of dog, that are highly intelligent, mentally stable, and have a massive amount of self-control. It probably will be a far better passenger on the plane the the humans, to be honest.

They are trained to hold it. Also, she probably took it to take both before they got to the airport. You can train a dog easily to not need to do that for 12 hours or more. In fact, my dog has 3 times per day it needs to go out to do one or the other. If he drinks too much, he also knows to ring the bell to let us know he needs to use it. Without a source of water and food during the flight, the dog will be fine.

Last, service dogs are highly trained animal professionals. That dog will be fine.

Why doesn't the dog fly under the plane like most pets do.

If that dog decides to go ape shyt in the middle of the flight, it could kill a few people
You need paperwork to allow the dog on the plane as a service dog and a non-service dog has size limitations (little dog is ok, big dog is not ok)
The dog has to be able to fit in the foot space.
If he/she does not, then (without cost) the airline should do what they can to move the passenger to a bigger seat.

What do you mean different breed?

Nearly all dog breeds are allowed to be service dogs on planes...
It's in the discreation of the traveler -who did the effort to get the correct papers and who paid for those papers- to say "This is my service dog".

The dog may be a complete psycho and aggressive on a plane, but if they got through the service dog exam somehow they are good to go...
