Many of us called this by the way.

Meanwhile, Republicans have gutted Americans’ chances at attaining education.

Keep us nice and dumb because they know they can keep power that way. Smart people don’t vote Republican.

The Chinese students can’t vote, even if they live and work here. It’s fine if they’re educated because they still can’t vote. Republicans don’t want educated voters.

So Republicans know it only gives them leverage as they take more jobs and can blame other people. People aren’t smart enough to know they’re creating the problems that they’re convincing other people they’re going to ‘solve’.

Honestly, I wouldn’t even be surprised if part of negotiations were Republicans hoping China demanded they be able to send more students. More Chinese students are better for Republicans to stay in power.

This is how states like Michigan become Red. Less educated Americans living in those states = more Republican votes all while the immigrants keep working in STEM fields for the U.S. Keep Americans poor and mentally unhealthy. It’s the infinite grift.

May I remind y'all about the China initiative

President Donald Trump's China Initiative was a program launched in November 2018 by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) under then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The initiative aimed to prosecute potential Chinese spies in American research and industry to combat economic espionage. It targeted hundreds of prominent Chinese-American academics and scientists, with the belief that China was using researchers and students to steal American technological innovations.2

The program was part of a broader strategy to address what the Trump administration perceived as unfair trade practices and intellectual property theft by China. It gained momentum amidst rising tensions between the US and China due to trade wars and exchanging tariffs.2 The China Initiative was criticized for fostering bigotry and discrimination against Asian Americans, particularly those with connections to China, while doing little to actually advance national security interests.7

The DOJ ended the program on February 23, 2022, largely due to accusations that it was racially profiling Chinese American citizens and other residents of Chinese origin or ancestry.2 Despite this, there have been calls by the US government to revive the program, and in 2025, Senator Rick Scott announced a bill to reinstate and codify President Trump’s CCP Initiative under the DOJ.4

The initiative was controversial, with civil rights groups accusing the Justice Department program of racial profiling. By 2021, less than a third of the China Initiative’s cases ended in convictions or guilty pleas.1 The program also contributed to a rise in incidents of violence against Asian Americans from 2019 to 2020 and was criticized as racially biased and ineffective.2

Some of the cases under the China Initiative were based on false evidence provided by the FBI, and the program's pursuit of professors, including those accused of concealing ties to the Chinese government on applications for federal research grants, hit snags, resulting in the dismissal of multiple criminal cases against academic researchers.
