Why you think people care so much about transgender people? Because wealthy white men are doing it. You think them hormones, surgery, and outfits are cheap? The ones with money are calling the shots and they're throwing their weight around to get their voices heard and change the conversation. They will use whatever tools they need to in order to advance their goals, and yes that includes using black gay and transgender people as Frontline soldiers in their culture war.

I agree with the OP in that when you've got black people trying to align themselves with an LGBT movement while we still getting killed out here is a bad move.

To be fair though, that's online and not real life. Online people have endless time to talk about shyt instead of doing it. Progress is made by the people who risk something.
