The tide really is changing (pun not intended) and now Saban &Bama have the the most competition they've ever had and aren't seen as the "prototype." Players are seeing that other programs can compete with Bama AND seem to be more "fun." They're going to have to stay ahead of the curve because the worst thing you can be to a kid is "old." And getting demolished like they did....
The way Saban did Hurts by not talking to him and not putting him in the championship game has players thinking twice when they can go to another program & ball out.
Having 4 star third-stringers is only going to last but so long before players realize they can go to another school and get the same coaching and actually get playing time.
Energetic coaches who are media darlings that "relate" to the players is the wave now. The Belichick method works in the NFL but not with teenagers who literally grew up their whole life social media.
I'm not saying it's all the way over, but this definitely is a change in eras. The "Viral Coach with results" is the move.
Best QB coach in the country imo, this probably opens the door for Hurts to Miami.
I see what you’re saying but that narrative is a bit outdated, Saban noted this a year ago which is why he began to hire and promote younger coaches like Tosh and Gattis, which is why Alabama has the #1 recruiting class still.
Of course they have the #1 class and talent to he championship favorites the next 3 years.
Bama's had the #1 class like 5 years straight but other teams like Clemson & Oklahoma have caught up.
College Football Recruiting: How last 10 national champions fared on recruiting trail
2016: Clemson Tigers (11, 9, 16, 15)
Clemson’s best recruiting class on that 2016 team was the sophomore class of 2015, which was No. 9 nationally. The Tigers only had one top-10 recruiting class on a team that won a national title. So Clemson’s championship was slightly more impressive than Auburn’s in terms of winning despite recruiting efforts.
Just getting a #1 recruiting class isn't a guaranteed blowout anymore. Why be a special teams & garbage time player when I can go to another place, shine AND win.
Now more than ever Nick can't just say "Alabama" and get every recruit and see other teams bow out. Nick has to do like Belichick and constantly adapt. Only difference is he doesn't have a Tom Brady and he doesn't have a dedicated staff that has been with him for years. They all leave after 2 or 3 years (albeit with his blessing).
nikka thought he was coming in here droppin knowledge when he dont realize we got more stars than a galaxy this class
Loved him as a QB coach. Had Jalen right. Responsible for that.
As an OC idk cause he didn't call plays he did at Arky a few years ago tho
Why do we want sark anywhere near this program?
We gonna lose 5 games next year
Hopefully it’s just a rumor
Man whats Petrino doing? Call him up. We got plenty of white womenz for him to fukk. Anybody but Sark
