there's that, but 4/$100 is not a bad deal. It's just that anything discussed prior was the Bulls getting a sweetheart deal. It's the going rate for what players like Giddey offer. Giddey sought $30 mil a year. Chicago offered $20 mil. Y'all ultimately met in the middle on a deal that can appreciate as the cap rises.

You weren't bidding against yourselves. To not budge off your original deal is simply telling Giddey, "take the QO because we don't really want you here."

As it stands, Giddey is currently your highest paid player in a league where guys are making twice as much as him to be expendable elsewhere. Bulls are gonna have money to play with next summer. Giddey doesn't impact that at all.
