Somebody lying on this but people are so biased on their party lines, that I don't know what's truth historically. You'll here Republicans say that they're the party of Lincoln, supported Civil Rights, etc. I even talked with a dude this week who was a Civil Rights activist back in the day. And he was kicking how Kennedy was against Civil Rights as proof to me about the history of Democratic party.. And he wasn't a Republican.

Then you'll hear the other side that the Southern Democrats switched sides and now they're the modern day Republicans. But what's the truth? Any websites, books would be appreciated.

all i can recommend is that you look at voting patterns of the south and you'll clearly see the 60's as a historical point. and i don't even think republicans would try to spin kennedy being against civil rights, but whatever.
