Good for them. Dmx took the world though. Have major deals and only be hot locally brehswhy do you keep going on about new york?aint nobody talking about them niccas. you have an inferiority complex towards new york. and thats why they have big heads up there, cuz of people like you.
and dude you worked with prolly doesnt check soundscan and was going off impact cuz the album was inescapable and most people didnt buy the retail. thats why basing chit off of sales is laughable. coincidentally, i remember i used to argue with people cuz everybody thought the lox sold like 4 mil cuz it was inescapable for a good year & a half. plus X sold 4 mil, but their album got more bump up top.
if you sign it for forever... then yesOnce u sign to someone ur publishing, is that forever.. as in whatever music u do the cut of it is going to the person who owns ur publishing?

Here is audio from the next day on hot97 when Diddy came to the Angie Martinez and brought the contracts and provided the Lox with a consultation on publishing 101:
Part 2 here:

my GOD... nikka broke them all the way down
they had the RR there.... they like 200 deep... they grown men... they read the contract... they got two parents.... everybody accountable... they signed it... it was all good
then i let them out their contract... jimmy iovine aint letting you out your contract... especially off a platinum album
Their is a government provision which states publishing and copyright are to return back to the songwriter after 35 years
But that is ONLY if the songwriter takeshi the time to file a TERMINATION document towards the current holder of the rights...
http://www.songwriteruniverse.com/gosainkaplanrecapture123.htm
And whose to say the holder of these rights will agree to relinquish these rights?
Its not like the government is gonna FORCE him or the label to...
you will basically have to spend time and money in court trying to retain those rights
Basically its ANARCHY ...anything goes cause the music biz like the boxing game and dope game is
unregulated
Ethics and Codes are just words with Superficial value![]()

"if you come to papi like front me 5 of them thangs.... you can't go back to papi and be like 'nah i'm not paying you back'.... they the streets right?? that ain't street.. crying on the radio... that ain't street"So basically they begged to get signed to a label, be marketed . . receive all benefits from being signed to the label and then once they were built up by the label into a multi-million dollar act they wanted to just be like "well nahhh, we'd rather just be independent . . fukk a deal"
throw in the damn towel puff!!!Mase did good. Lox did awful. The lox started the fall off of badboy. Do i think Black rob flopped. Considering the timing,no. He didnt do great but considering the don of his cliqe's numbers plummeted, mase numbers plummeted and he did good as them. He did well for himself. So did shyne. If they did those numbers during the no way out, harlem world LAD run then yea those would be flops to me.
and couldn't jump ship from RR. They were stuck there and were looking back on hindsight like
on all they shyt that they missed out on.
