Problem was, when the LOX went to RR and made that super gritty street music with label mates DMX who have 4 multi platinum albums in a 3.5 year period, they figured they gonna be straight and sell the same amount. When they got what they wanted and they couldn't sell as much as they thought they would, they were like :ld: and couldn't jump ship from RR. They were stuck there and were looking back on hindsight like :snoop: on all they shyt that they missed out on.
And the lox will never be scorching hot cause they don't possess the talent of great performance.

the lox were in the beanie sigel category in terms of everyone fukked with them in the streets, but none of their shyt crossed over like a DMX or Jay-z

I actually like the Lox, but besides skeek, it seems kiss and styles have no idea of whats going on..

Sheek seems like the only nikka who actually gets some real paper...

And he does the least recording..go figure

this is silly.

everybody in a crew isnt gonna sell the same as the top sellers. thats just ridiculous.

the lox never flopped. every album that dropped either met or exceeded its projections. when an album fails to meet its projections, thats when it flops. not because you dont sell the same amount of units as f*ckin household names like DMX & puff daddy.

:mindblown:

just because you didnt discuss it in your corny little peer group in your dusty ass town, it doesnt mean that it didnt exist.

so because you didnt know that performing on the show was a regular pit-stop for artists, that means that it wasnt?

:childplease: GET REAL. i didnt watch the show like that either, but unlike you, im not oblivious to whats going on outside of what i directly indulge in.
All that was a show for the 6-17 age groups, it had a wide age demographic but it was still very much a kid show. I'm 22 and watched damn near the entire run from it's start to it's finish with my lil sisters and big brother. But even my big bro stopped watching(all that and nick overall) around age 13 opting for BET and more grown shows and movies.

They do remind me of beans, two entities given great chances to blow and not having the talent to pull it off.
They coyld rap but was missing something so they had marginal success.

the thing is in some cases its not about the talent...

In some cases its the way the artist is marketed
The personality of the artist itself
being the right place at the right time etc..

I do agree that the lox overrated themselves and underrated puff's contributions to their mainstream success..Puff knows radio and how to market...that has just as much to do as having a hit record

Not to mention that Badboy started to go the street route after they left and during their let the lox go campaign Black Rob, Shyne and G-dep were demo-ing their debut albums that were released in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Plus they have to look at the way Puff deals with his artists now...giving French and MGK more creative control...this just changed with time.

These nikkas got raped so bad, they're luck they still have the LOX name.

To my Coli brehs trying to make it big, if you are signing a contract to a Def Jam or something, atleast try to get full ownership of your publishing, the correct amount of royalties, and creative control. Be aggressive, have integrity.

If you can't make it happen, go indy, make your own label and get a distribution deal.

I ain't a musical industry genius, but when you hear about so many artists to get raped for their publishing constantly, that should tell you read that damn contract.

But the fame and the industry bishes and the rented cars and the parties my nikka :mjcry:

lol. beans was never promoted to be a "star".

most of his albums sold more than they were projected to sell actually.
