I'ma say it, talking specifically mainstream: too many non-blacks folks making the beats and/or too many black folks trying to cater to a non-black audiences.
Dancing is shamed.
Catering to a woman is shamed.
Being a "pretty boy" is shamed.
A lot of that shyt goes right into making a generational r&b star on top of a good voice.
Additionally, look at what people are doing with hip-hop: calling it "boring" to transform it into a variation of screamo rock-trap to be "innovative".
Pi'erre should produce and songwrite more R&B to be honest. I think dude gets the vibe right:
