Unless you’re on the level of selling out your tour on presale or you’re a priority for a top tier tour manager the economics of a 2500-4000 cap venue are very attractive compared to an arena tour.
The overhead and tour expenses are so much lower and you have way less people on payroll. People underestimate the costs associated with building a stage and visual show that people will be impressed by.
Artists like Travis Scott and ASAP took losses for years selling out big venues to build their reps as live acts.
