I hear you, and those are good points. To counter, I would say Harden has a better supporting cast (although that can be debated) and that OKC wasn't even expected to make the playoffs by a lot of people. Also, you could take some credit away from Harden for being part of that notoriously potent Antoni system, although that would be nitpicking.
I wouldn't be mad if Harden won. But it you tell me that someone averaged a triple double in the NBA and didn't win MVP. I would say, well who who then?! And if you presented Harden, someone who was more efficient, with a slightly better supporting cast, and won less than 10 games more than Westbrook, I'd be like
Harden is having a historical season in his own right, but he didn't average a triple double. And I think triple doubles are overrated. But up until now, we have held them in very high regard. So, I'm of the mindset that you just HAVE to give it to him. Now, if someone does it next year, it would be different, because it wouldn't be some unaccomplishable feat like we thought it was up until now.
