People /societies 'morals' just adjust to whatever suits them best. Especially the ones in power

What they don't admit is they had the game set up in in advance to their liking. had all the insuder knowledge beforehand. Then you're in a chokehold and are in place where either way they win , you lose.

Once you discover that nearly everybody with money/power got it from relation to another rich/powerful person it makes you see the world a little more clearly. Used to think those people were just incredibly smart and better than the average as a kid growing up. The moral of the story is, respect a person's actions more than a person's reputation.
