You're absolutely right we could use more healthier discourse and dialogue in the AA community and barbershop banter.

But still think it has its place:francis:

In your immediate family and many others in sure you don't talk everyday about estate planning and wills and who will get what, there is a time and place for everything.
I think for letting of steam, serving as a universal bond between brothers/ and let's be clear not all hiphop is bad. And even in the most vile of it gems can be taught if you have a positive eye?
Before Jay many never even thought about starting and managing their own business.
Music will always reserve a unique place in our community love it or hate it. Back in the day they believed James brown music was overtly sexual perhaps work of the devil:mjlol: it's all subjective. Some speak of and enjoy art daily:yeshrug:

Creative people need an outlet. For many in the hood who haven't the time nor luxury to devot themselves to their craft I won't rob them of the breif relief and past time of jovial hiphop banter. But we do need to balance it with other healthy discourse.
:salute:AGREED...but too much banter can be harmful..some never know when to draw the line leading to a permanent destruction of that bridge between the old and new generation.

Why do you think that white folks talk about shyt like that as of their conversation is supposed to be smarter than ours? They shyt they talk about is stupider than the shyt nikkas talk about
:whoa:didnt say their conversations are smarter than our and never been in a cac barbershop, the point is that its not a pretty site when you see a 50 year old arguing with a 30 year old about who is the bestest rapstars of all time, usually ends with a bit of cursing and both being denied an opportunity to have had a constructive conversation.

True but I'm sure you and I both know that our history is rich with creative discourse or song. It's how we used to communicate our story our history or lineage provide warning imbue courage it's very integral to who we are, we are creative because we are creators. minus how commercialized it's become that isn't of our doing. But even some of our languages are melodic in themselves. What group of people who's women notoriously need the help of fertility drugs to accomplish something they should do naturally?

We where born to creat in all its many facets and not chase a valueless dollar. Although we must give finances a concern in order to survive but not to live!

Music is powerful it's why they used it in wars/ it's thumped at your college and pro games its used as a weapon against our people. But like guns if you know how to operate it, you can safely utilize it to your advantage.

And some things are just for debate to build arguments allow ones mind to work. Even the most gifted debate teams even in political arenas will often times use trivial matters to debate for practice. So no harm no foul in something common that two AA's can relate to and have a respectful interchange of ideas. Especially this being. Site dedicated to hiphop:martin:

I've been arguing the shyt close to 20 years now..:flabbynsick:

what's more annoying and makes us get back into the arguments is seeing teenagers and early 20s kids speaking on it as if they were even born back then..some were like 2 years old and speak on it with such first hand account perspective.

i think talking about who won what is cool even if you're a little older as long as you're just having fun and not being a dikkrider.

now talking who has more money is corny passed 22-23 (thinking back it's still corny at what ever age but that's the age i would cut it at)
