Snoop is not even that old though.

He's 2 years younger than Jay-z and 1 year older than Eminem.

Dr. Dre is the craziest cause he's 47-48 and could possibly be the only person that old who can go platinum today.
Him and U2 and probably a 2-3 country cacs

It's kinda bad, but that Coachella performance was :whew:.

Him and Dre could probably tour forever.

The problem as I see it is that rappers make songs that are "embarrassing" to perform when they get older.
Also the style in which they excel will become embarrassing eventually.

The prime example being Snoop. As long as he has a dope beat and spits some street shyt, 9/10 it will be hot even today.

there's nothing stopping Dre & Snoop doing an Up In Smoke type tour in 10-20 years. there will be plenty of fans still down to hear the music & plenty of new fans who want to see & hear it live for the first time because they have so many timeless classics

It would be the funniest shyt seeing Snoop perform "Ain't no fun" when he's 60 though :dead:.

Or him being 65 and Dre being 70 and them performing "fukk you".

This is a hard one no homo...

If you think about it, why would a rapper quit makin music if theres still demand for his product?

There's no reason... Personally I feel like hip hop is a urban/youth genre so its kinda hard to listen to a rapper like the camel rap about crack when he been rich n far removed from most peoples reality for like 15 years... Thats why a lot of these old rapper sound so washed up...

But who knows, hip hop is young compared to other genres... N it is changin, dre jayz eminem nas settin new heights provin to be big acts n they are all into their 40s (i think the GOAT is 39 tho)

Well :patrice:

if you were born the same year Nixon became president, the ABA was still a basketball league, The Bettels were still preforming, John Madden became a coach, The First internet message was sent on Earth, mik jagger was shot, M. Qaddafi took over, Stevie Wonder dropped Cherie Amore, Seseme Street dropped, 'gay rights movement started, and you look like a old camel... then it's probably time to wrap it up.

u can't be mid 40s talking about being on the block when u now have more in common w clint eastwood than u do some kid.

When should a rapper just stop rapping and stick to business? I'm talking about a successful artist who doesnt really need to make new music anymore. I feel like they eventually try to hard to be in a young mans game and look like an idiot.
NEVER...

If you rapping about real life for real people, how can you ever run out of things to talk about...

1) Trayvon Martin's case...
2) The disproportionate rates of black male incarceration...
3) The crime rate in Chicago and similar cities...
4) The changes happening in hip hop from the time you got introduced to it, until now...
5) The life experiences and f+ckery you witnessed while touring..

There are a million and one things to rap about...

I think older rappers need to focus more on their lyricism from a poetic, story telling, satirical and more advanced perspective...And the music should have better composition and arrangements...It should be instrumented in a way that a band can play it in a rock concert, and have you eating white hipster money even after you are dead...

They shouldn't be putting random punchlines together, and calling it lyricism...They really need to focus on the art form itself, and take like 6 months to 1 year to make complete albums with great music and lyrics...

There are 7 Billion people in the world, if you can get even 1000 loyal fans to buy your album for $10, that's an easy $10000...Most of it profit, because if you been in the game, then you should have a mini studio all set-up and ready to go...

If you do a few tours, and merchandise, you might make another $10000...Plus you never know if one of your tracks may end up a popular jingle on a commercial or movie/tv-show soundtrack...

Think about this...

Iggy Pop (British Rocker) makes millions of dollars every year on royalties for his song "Lust For Life"...

If you love the art, then you lose NOTHING by doing it, and doing it with passion and dedication...

shyt like that is the main reasons why Hip Hop lost a lot of fans over the years and downloading is so rampant. I would refuse to hear a 40+ rapper talking about the basic aspects of the hood, tricking on strippers, smoking weed, and trend hopping since people want to be the next Jay-Z.

the time is coming where the older MC's are gonna stop simply following trends and rappin about whatever bullshyt is hot. Life Is Good, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors, various Wu-Tang albums, Killer Mike and others are some cats who are older and making more grown up Hip Hop approaching various subject matter in a unique way or not even bothering with the generic bullshyt altogether. the thing that's gonna keep them going is the originality, what they actually rap about isn't necessarily a problem as long as they do it well. catering to trends isn't going to do that.
