what are some good mac cleaning apps?

I don't own one, so I can't help you much. I use Ccleaner for pc, to get rid of junk files, and I believe they have a mac version. I don't know how it will work for mac, but its worth a try. Also if it's running slow, check to see if its bogged down but a ton of unnecessary programs running, and check the startup order.. just check all the usual you know. Do a disk check on her HD as well. Last time my pc was slow as hell was due to a failing hard drive :sadcam:

That sound about right, I'm not sure her hard drive is crapping out or not but it's struggling with simple task

They do have CCleaner for mac and its pretty the same thing as the PC version.

this, and then all the regular stuff you would do to any older computer. get rid of any resource heavy software, strip it down to the bare essentials as much as you can.

2010 macbook pro, i5 w/ 4gigs of ram. Its on 10.9 and its just running slow

Cuz you have 4 gigs of ram. If your harddrive is full then itll run slow because how OSX works is itll make ram to use whatever on your hdd if you dont have enough for whatever youre doing.


But long story short clear up your harddrive and have like 30 gigs free if possible and you should see some improvements.
