how does this pertain to the black condition? shyt definitely resonates insofar as working an existence for a workplace that has no benefit to you or what you're passionate about aside from a (depending on who you are), a meager check. :wow:

I suppose I agree to some extent.
I certainly understand where he's coming from.

But man's capacity for resentment is not to be underestimated.

Makes sense. This is pretty much how I live now. I could never sit behind a desk 8 hours a day taking shyt from some guy who hasn't endured my plight. It's just not in the cards for me. A lot of people mistake black folks free bird nature with "laziness". I know a lot of people who simply have no desire to conform to the social "requirements" of the modern world. I feel that.

Some of happiest people I know, are drug dealers who get to wake up when they want, and go to sleep when they want. To the naked eye they are lazy low life's Who "need" a job. But for the most part, from what I see? They are happy. :manny:

And isn't that what life is about in the first place? Somewhere along the line people confused the standard as something that's mandatory. What "should" be the normal way of things, doesn't have to be the normal way of things.

I write articles in my crib, and engineer at night time. No boss, no kissing ass. No drug tests that will label me "irresponsible" if I fail, even though I bust my ass more than the average person who sits behind a desk but meets the "standard". And I'm good with that. :ahh:

My way of things got me my car, and a semi-nice apartment. Life is Grand baby.

A trade adds character and gives you tool to give back to society on some level. Even in the most primitive cultures, men have some some job to do. If you arent working then you're either waiting for someone to give you the necessities of life so you can survive or you are working to at the least, feed yourself.

Must be nice to think like this after putting all the work of nation building on slave's back and reaping the benefits.

:camby:

Could be that the speaker's family never even owned slaves but he could only ponder such a thought after enjoying the benefits of a racial caste system:manny:

agree with you on this, white people love positing idealizations of utopian societies while IRONICALLY having caused so many people to live in misery.

however, in how i interpreted the quote, even slavery, being economically rooted and greed driven, is put into question.

it pertains to everyone's condition. the social structure that the 1% have in place is to keep people working for peanuts, worried, and in debt. if not kept busy the 99% would have time to figure out a way to change things. there are hidden patents that vastly improve the human condition if it not for the greed of the status quo. two examples are the hydrogen fuel car and the free energy inventions of Nikola Tesla.

one has to wonder about a structure in place that a few hundred families have enough wealth to last for centuries, have the power to corrupt politicians while most of the globe's inhabitants are starving and don't have potable water.

my go to vid....
