What are the qualities you look for in your favorite rappers?

The reason I put Pac over Big in my all time favorites is because of his impact. Of course his impact outside of music but we're talking about music in here

Pac was very influential. Most importantly, you FELT his lyrics. Everything he ever rapped evokes some type of emotion or thought from the listener

Same with DMX. I have him up there in my list. Probably higher than most people would for this reason

These are some of my favorite qualities. Being relatable (making music I feel), having real substance in their music (anything from socio-economic issues to simply navigating and dealing with devious women. Life shyt), and the way they rap (lyricism, how they get their point across, how creative they are)


I personally don't really value how well a rapper flows or anything like that if I can't FEEL what they're saying. But that's just me

Just being able to rap.

Say some shyt that makes me wince. Like "oooh"

It's like comedy in a way. There's no one formula to being funny. Funny is just funny.

Being a dope rapper doesn't mean you use big words, or it doesn't mean you cannot use big words. Just dope words of any size.

Emotion (not necessarily the voice, but the words themselves make me feel something)

Stories (put me in the moment and allow me to see it as you're rapping it)

Introspection- this may go hand in hand with emotion, but its basically an artist's vulnerability to show their inner thoughts and feelings
