I've got a lot of homework to do -- but I'm ready.:whew:

My business idea is almost 1:1 like yours just selling a different product.

The money won't be an issue.

Good deal, remember the Jack Ma saying though "you don't make mistakes when you don't have money; when you have money you make a lot of mistakes". Really think hard about how you spend your dough. I would say again plan on having at least 2-3X what you think you need in your business plan.

Don't blow $2k on a new computer, fancy furniture, etc. if you don't have to. Carefully select where you rent since this is a huge part of your overhead. Don't get more space than you need.

Craigslist is your friend. Stuff like material handling equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.) and even used restaurant equipment is available though there will be no warranty. Also don't forget to sell as you ramp up operations, having the best operation in the world doesn't sell shyt.

I studied business in school so a lot of the accounting, marketing, operations type stuff I already knew. I would recommend at least one book on accounting, one on marketing, one on sales, and one on supply chain/operations (The Goal is good) so you know the nuts and bolts. Also a book on taxes is a must since this can ruin you if you get it messed up.

There are some books like Dale Carnegie How to Make Friends and Influence People, and you should read a book about negotiations like 'Getting to Yes' or the Karass Negotiations books.

Besides that read magazines like Fast Company or Inc just to get ideas. Financial Samurai is another good blog that chronicles the business adventures of its owner. One thing you should read (that most people don't) is that you should buy books both about your industry and especially the history of your industry. History tells you a lot about why things are the way they are and where they are likely to go. You should also join the industry association (if it is not a rip off, they can be EXPENSIVE) and go to conferences if possible to network and learn from others.

Finally a public speaking class like Toastmasters since sales and pitching business is all about speaking.

I honestly didn't read any of the huge gimmicky books on business. Maybe I should have but the best advice is to start doing it. Your direction will change and opportunities you didn't know existed will come about once you are in the thick of things.
This post has led me down a rabbit hole I've never been in before. Thank you, breh.:mjcry:

What I want to know is if you're a one-man-army in terms of doing everything yourself or do you get help/outsource any of the work. If so what parts of the business do you pass on?

I outsource order fulfillment and shipping orders to Amazon warehouses to a local warehouse that provides fulfillment services. Takes a lot of busy work off my back. I want to hire someone for packaging/bottling this year but we will see.

I've been thinking about buying already established businesses, not sure yet. Yoga studio is a good idea because it sounds like it requires little to no overhead. You only selling vitamin smoothies and shyt. There's also owning a gym which sounds like more potential. Maybe a place big enough for yoga and gym?

I was looking at this auto parts store not too long ago. People always gonna need things to fix their cars

Not sure about the timing with COVID but there is going to be a LOT of used gym equipment on the secondary market. My family knows a gym owner who had the throw in the towel. Look on Craigslist or Ebay for good condition surplus shyt and buy cheap.

BUT you have to gauge correctly when this stuff will be popping again. There is no way to tell.

These are ideas for the future, 3 to 4 years from now. I have no savings so I can't make any moves yet. But the plan is trying to get some passive income while working, hopefully by then I'll have bachelors degree making $65k or so. I figure a gym, yoga studio, vape shop, or auto parts store doesn't need much attention if you got a decent manager

Well you always have to look over the managers shoulder. Watch the cash too in the auto parts store and especially the vape shop.

I used to do that almost 20 years ago during the housing boom before 2008. It was good money and if you have a bunch of good reliable contractors up to fix shyt you can do well.

Only problem is I had to evict a bunch of people the landlords never took care of. Dealing in court all the time is WOAT:mjcry:

My hustle is a Shopify store on the side of my 9-5 making more than my 9-5 itself. That smug feeling of knowing if they let you go, you'll be more than okay. :banderas:

hmu for training and we'll get you profitable.
