Her works are provocative, rooted in research, and epitomizes what something means to be ART. But I'm mostly left with confusion after looking at here pieces. I understand where it is rooted, bringing history, stigma, and stereotypes into intriguing specticals. But I can't pin-point what HER "message" is. it has underlying tones of bedwench f(etish)antasy and the search for self, more so than atonement and reflection. TO ME, her work seems to be empowerment through Antebellum Slave narratives, yet there is a hollowness where I feel blacks, specifically black men, cannot connect.

She has talent, but I dont care for the actual compositions
I agree, And I was trying to understand why. I think what I posted in op is the closest I can get to understanding why I don't care for it. Typing this post now, I realize this is like Shea butter art, from an OG Shea Butter. But she is extremely good at what she does.

Kara Walker pushes a lot of boundaries and initiates needed conversations on the portrayal of enslaved blacks.

Stacey Dash could be called one, but Kara Walker is pretty real.
